I'm useing the "Resize" filter for adding letterbox to AVI film.
how can i now how much pixels should i add that the film will be 4:3 format? right now it's 16:9.

Adding letterbox? Your description doesn't make sense.

Anyway, just do the math. If you current source is 720x405 (which is 16:9), and you want to retain the horizontal size, then simply divide that by 4 and multiply by 3, so you get 540. That's why it's 4:3... vertical is 3/4 of horizontal (and vice versa: horizontal is 4/3 of vertical), with 16:9 the ratios are 9/16 and 16/9 respecitvely.
