Sometimes I find it hard to work with the curve editor to get straight lines when adding nodes. I do make them in linear slopes sometimes and other times I make them rounded. Is there an easier way to make lines more straighter without having to add two nodes to the parts that start and stop an envelope?

Sample video, uncorrected and corrected. I used two levels filter along with 2 multiadjust filters in certain sections of the video for correction different things:

Any tips on using the curve editor better?

...Uhmmm...
Shift + Right-mouse-click to toggle between line/curve ...?

It is written as a tip down there, underneath the curve window.

Nope? You meant something different?

Almost. Thanks for showing how to shift from those two options.

What I mean is that after adding a second node to raise the white line and then adding the node for the end part of the envelope, the upper line doesn't get straight unless you add extra start and end nodes to the tops of the curve line, if you don't you get an uneven, bowed, line.

As Jam One said, if you want a straight line, you should just flip the segment to line mode, rather than adding extra nodes to approximate one.

The reason it works this way is that I wanted to avoid the classic paradigm of requiring the user to set spline tangents. This way, you do need to insert some extra nodes, but it basically comes down to: if the curve isn't going where you want, add points where you want it to be.
