reencoding looses quality ! If you still want to do so, please have a look at the guides at doom9.org or divx.com that tell you how to recompress with 2pass divx to the desired filesize.

on those sites there's a manual to compress a divx movie, but you need also the original dvd to compress. But i don't have the dvd of those movies, i have only a avi fil that is now 715mb and i't must be compressed so it fit on a cd-r with a capacity of 700Mb.
Thanks in advance |

XCD is Great !!!!!
But you have to use OGM as file container as long as matroska is ready, as AVI is not very well suited to be burnt as mode 2 form2 because its not very error resilient ....
Use VdubMod to transmux your AVIs into OGM, then use mode2cdmaker from http://sf.net/projects/xcd to make your ISO file ( cue/bin ), burn it with nero or any other burning tool, install the test6filter mode2form2 DirectShow filter ( works great for S-VCD too btw ), the OGM DShow filter from http://tobias.everwicked.com and enjoy !!
-------------------- Visit the unofficial Virtualdub support forum on http://forums.virtualdub.org - help to reduce the big number of emails Avery Lee is getting every day !! Support matroska as container and Gstreamer as the only truely open, x-platform multimedia platform .... |

If you are trying to Burn your AVI files as Data Files you can easily OverBurn 715mb on a 700mb CD-R, I have Burnt up to 720mb without a Problem on a CD, and have Burnt 830mb in SVCD format.... |

here 80 mins CD ,that are really 703mb,dont go over 706mb when overburning
but is easy to go from 715 to ,say,705mb, without recompressing video, recompress just audio and cut end credits,
also to set the audio interleave at 20 frames could save up to 5mb if the original file has the interleaving set to one frame. |

I have resized a movie to fit on a cdr. by putting a start offset at the beginning of the movie and then a end offset right before the endcredits starts.direct streamcopy on video and audio then save as segmented avi 1. Then i would do the second segment by putting the start offset right before end credits then the end offset at the end.Audio on direct stream copy and then i reincode just the endcredits at 100,close out of virtual I would then reopen virtual then the first segment that i saved then apprend the second that i saved ,direct stream copy on audio and video.
No recompress or lost of Quility But i found that it could only be done in divx 3 or 4 |

I've successfully burned 800mb and 900mb blank cd's from Allmediaoutlet.com. As long as your cd burner has the lastest firmware and you're using the latest version of Nero you should be okay. They also sell a 'trial' 10 pack of the long cd's. http://www.allmediaoutlet.com/SS90-100S.html allmediaoutlet.com |
