When you sync problem when seeking in the file, from the start of the file, or after a few minutes ? |

a constant offset ? seems like the proggie you were using to rip the movie cant compensate delays in the original AC3.
You can use Virtualdub to compensate . I will explain how to do it if you confirm this is the case.
-------------------- Visit the unofficial Virtualdub support forum on http://forums.virtualdub.org - help to reduce the big number of emails Avery Lee is getting every day !! Support matroska as container and Gstreamer as the only truely open, x-platform multimedia platform .... |

You aren't by chance using Flask or Xmpeg are you?
I had the exact same problem when I tried to rip Gladiator. Somethin to do with Reconstruct Progressive Frames. It was throwing the whole timing off. Try disabling any thing like Force FILM and just IVTC. Or it may be what Christian said. |

If you extract the AC3 track with DVD2AVI, then it will tell you how many milliseconds you should offset the audio by. |

If the a/v desync is constant then you can fix it by opening the .avi file in VDub and save it under a new name with changed interleaving settings:
- open file in VD - set both Video and Audio to Direct Stream Copy - click on Audio | Interleaving - change the "Delay audio track by XXX ms" setting ( maybe you have to test different values. Just play around a bit. Or use the value you get from DVD2AVI/SmartRipper when extracting the AC3 stream if you know how to do that ) - save the file
Should the desync be variable ( sometimes more sometimes less ) than I'm sure you're using Flask/Xmpeg and you're compressing the audio stream directly to MP3 using Flask/Xmpeg instead of saving a temporary file with uncompressed audio. This is a known bug and not related to this forum.
