I am try to compress a video which is in Xvid format. I am try to compress it to divx and moreover i an trying to compress the sound. But wheni try to save it to avi it gives me the error that the requested audio compression is not comp-atible with the input format. Check the sampling rate and the channel count of the input to match those of the requested format. Maded sure the sampling rate is the same in mp3 codec and made sure it is stereo but gives me that error. Could some one tell me what to do????

You probably selected improper sampling rate, The best is not to alter anyting in Audio -> Conversion dialog, For example, if you want mono from stereo, just select mp3(or whatever) in audio codec and set the desired format, you should see only formats that source can be converted to.

Just curious, Why you want to compress to divx? even if xvid is not better than divx , than , at leas does not differ form one for more than 3-5 %.
Anyway, recompressing to divx or any other codec wii significally reduce quality, no matter source and target formats.
