Made a small trailer/credits movie and exported it as avi with divx compression, no audio wanted to merge this to another divx movie, that has audio etc
they have both got same framerate and resolution but i get the following error
"cannot append segment: the video streams have different data format"
tried doing it with 0 audio for both and audio in both etc still no joy
any ideas?
also managed to get a diff error when appending now the segment has a different number of streams

frame rate must be exactly the same !! even if they differ 2 decimals behind the comma it will fail.
Try to force bitrate for both movies to a precise number like 25.000 fps before merging them ...

Christian is right (what else could he be ?).
For a how2 about adjusting the framerate, you can go here: http://virtualdub.everwicked.com/index.php...2668004bc127754

Please just try the adjustment, cause you cant see the differences, if one is 25.000000000000000001 and the other is 24.999999999999999999999 VDub will show you 25.0000 for both files. Believe me.
Ok, seems like, the framerate is the same now.
Now be sure that both of the movies contain (the same type of) audio or not contain audio, not the first one with and the second one without

seems like one of them has audio and the other not ?
Identify the one that has audio, set 'audio' to 'no audio', set 'video' to 'diret stream copy' and save a new file with new name.
Now you have a new AVI with same video but no audio ... try to join this with your 2nd file ...

Think it is very easy ! if it is 420 frames it is 16,8 seconds (when using PAL @25 frames per second) 16,8 secs are 16800 milisecs, so you have to put in a delay of 16800 (positive not negative)
Think, thats it.
Not difficult isnt it ?
