Mux 22.05khz Mp3 With Divx5.02, video is running 2x fast

Hi all,

It works fine when I mux 44.1kHz or 48kHz mp3 with divx5.02 2-pass but I want to decrease the size of audio so I resampled to 22.05kHz in external mp3 encoder(lame). And I select video direct stream copy(from the working avi), audio also direct stream copy from mp3 file. When I played the avi in WMplayer, audio sounds correct. But the video is running twice the normal speed, seriously out of sync. The timer shown in the WMplayer is running 2 times fast, also. (for example, when it shows 2 sec passed in fact only 1 sec passed, so the total time shown is correct. When video finishes the audio is truncated in the middle) Does anyone know where did I do wrong?
(I used nandub because vdub doesn't let me use vbr mp3)

Thanks!

AFAIK there is no way to put an 22.05kHz (stereo) audio into an avi file and get it to work synch

But correct me if I am wrong

you're right BaronVlad. Nandub can't handle files with sample rates of less than 32 or 44.1khz.

You have to use CBR MP3 encoding + WaveMP3 ( get it at www.doom9.org ). The resulting .mp3 with .wav headers can be muxed using VDub.

Or you can raise the sampling rate.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try that. BTW, could you suggest other audio encoder or format that is more efficient (less size for same quality) than mp3 and suitable in avi file using Vdub?

Thanks!

the only one, that IMO is better and smaller as mp3 is, is called ogg vorbis, but you dont get a real avi file after muxing audio and video and it cannot be used in VirtualDub
