Hi, I am new to Virtualdub. This is problem. I have a divx file that has a bad frame. I am trying to edit that frame off. I can get a file up to that bad frame. But I can not create another file after that bad frame.

It's there anything that I can do to.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It might work to choose Video->Scan video stream for errors. Alternatively, select the bad frame and choose Edit->Mask selected frames. I don't know for sure since I've never really used this feature, but it seems to be designed to work around exactly the problem you describe.

Well, after experimenting a bit with the "mask frames" feature, it appears that the video will have to be recompressed (bummer).

1) Start VirtualDub
2) Open the original AVI
3) Choose "Video->Scan video stream for errors" (might take a while)
4) Choose "Video->Compression" (select your favorite codec)
5) Choose "File->Save old format AVI" (save a new AVI)
6) If the new AVI works, delete the original

Hopefully it will be that simple. wink.gif

divfix might also be an option. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it if the above does not work.
