So recently I have been trying to find some program to convert Valve demo/replay files or .dem format and several sources said that VirtualDub can do that. But when I tried to open the file in VirtualDub, it came up with the error stating that it was an unrecognized file format. Am I opening it wrong, is the software incompatible, or is there an addon that I need? |

From what I can see the .dem and demo files are not videos at all They're a sequence of commands to the game itself which the game performs and draws on screen Pretty much the same as if you were moving the mouse and pressing keys
Not openable by a video editor
You could record the screen when playing one by Fraps or similar I suppose (not my area of knowledge)
