Hi all, just got myself one of those action camera things and tried making a time lapse video. So what I did was get the camera to take pictures every 5 seconds for a few hours, ended up with 1000+ of them I used Virtualdubmod to try and convert them into a movie, but somehow can't. The program just doesnt want to open the images as a sequence
I've tried renaming them to more simple names (e.g. 001.jpg 002.jpg etc) but somehow it still doesn't work
Does anyone know what's wrong? I tried selecting all and doing a drag and drop, still doesn't work |

I can confirm that in VirtualDubMod it does not work. This programs last version is from within 2007 !
You can better download and install VirtualDub's latest version 1.10.5-test7 that you can find here: > http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...ST&f=15&t=22042
Just unzip all included files to (for example) C:\Program Files\VirtualDub
Start the program by doubleclicking VirtualDub.exe (or by creating a shortcut to it).
When opening the first *.JPG, via File > Open video file..., make sure that "Automatically load linked segments" is checked.
Regards.
(it is always good to let us know if the proposed solution works) |

Alright... it works if I rename the photos to 001.jpg 002.jpg... However it doesn't work for the rest of the images
The camera saves it in datestamps which somehow Virtualdub doesn't recognise example : 2014_1119_065253_022.jpg, 2014_1119_065253_023.jpg so on and so forth
Any way around this? Short of renaming the 1000+ photos I have one by one |

All the images being imported must have the same numbering sequence format. If the stamped files are in ascending order, Edit > Select all. Right click on the first file and Rename it as blank (space bar), all the selected images will be automatically renumbered in sequence. Selecting the first image, they should now open in VirtualDub. |

Well well, you learn something every day! http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7722/window...-files-at-once/ http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/renamers/...ht/renamexp.htm
...and I've been using programs like Irfanview to do it, all this time! https://encodingtalk.com/threads/how-does-f....743/#post-3143
Thanks malky! |
