Are you selecting ffmpeg from the drop down menu before opening the source video.

No I didn't ,,, thank you so much,, I have a lot to learn,, it opened a AVI now..
Please is there a ,,,,, easy way to learn how to work this program>>>? sad.gif
I can't even find how to start to save a video file so I can keep working on it without saving it as a AVI... LOL
Think of me as a 65 year old with my first video camera..
Trying to learn how to take video with a radio control Quad ...
And get the shaky video to stop shaking ....LOL
OH,, yes I did try to read all I could,,, but ,, well ,,, I 'm having a very hard time with it...!!
Thank you again,,,

Open the file.
If you make changes to the video (deleting frames etc) or use a filter, you have to select a codec before saving the file.
Video > Full processing mode (that's the default).
Video > Compression and select a codec.
VirtualDub saves AVI format;typically you would select 'XviD' as the compressor.
If XviD isn't listed as available, download and install the codec.

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD-Codec

To save, click File > Save as AVI.
