Will VirtualDub ever provide native support for MP4 containing H.264, AAC, AC3, MP3, DTS, and/or other modern video encoding standards.

What do you mean by native - without plugins?
Because with plugins there's nothing on your list that doesn't work

What he means is that it is incorporated or built in to vdub and does not require people to go to external sources to download filters and plugins to make it work. Not everyone is aware of these plugins or where to find them. Why not build them in especially really popular format such as mp4? |

Opensource doesn't mean you can just lift others code as you like
That, and why would a dev go to all the trouble and time of writing and testing code just to save someone 5 minutes work?

I was thinking more of a collaboration of people who develop the plugins with vdub.
What you think is trivial, most dont understand who are just getting started.
I remember a build of vdub you gave me ( at least I think it was you )which opens mp4s with ease.
