Hello, I was able to extract a playable .wav file around 3 GigaByte's. But the avi isn't playable, probably that's why camtasia itself can't use it. I tried gom player, vlc and camtasia studio 8.1.2 Build 1327 Jul 19 2013. Both vdub and camtasia almost give the same error message cannot load the avi file unkown or unsupported media type or required codecs are not found. Other shorter recordings when I tested recording before this big record are fine. I think the recording must be 4 or 5 hours, wav is 4:44 and a little.
So what could I do or is the best thing here to open or cut this already in smaller pieces ? |

For me it seems very uncommon to work with such large files (of several 10's of GB or almost 100 GB).
Probably you are recording "uncompressed" video (and audio).
The main reason for using codecs (encoders) is to compress the images and to limit file size.
So may I advise you to do this at first: use compression codecs for video as well as for audio.
Normally, somewhere in the settings of the capturing program you must be able to do that.
For what concerns the ability to open an existing video of 100 GB... do you still have enough disk space ?
I am not sure how it exactly works, but I suppose your computer must have enough temporary storage to open it (maybe as large as the video itself). |

4K (and above) video for some people recording 1080 stored to large TB drives
Suggest download and install MediaInfo. After you load your video to it, select from it's menu View then Tree copy and paste all that MediaInfo reports here. Change the folder video name if you need to before posting |

Camtasia has excellent video compression. In fact, I used to use it for mp4 compression prior to freemake. |
