I just downloaded VirtualDub, and I want to capture video from some VHS tapes, but I don't know how or where to start. Here are the questions I have?

1. First of all, how do I hook up my VCR to my PC? Do I need some special capture hardware to do this?

2. In VirtualDub, how do I actually start the capturing process? What settings should I choose?

3. What resolution and compression method should I choose if I want full-screen video?

FYI, the tapes I want to capture contain basketball games that are about 2 hours in length. Please keep that in mind when you answer my questions. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me.

OK, let's start,

First of all, you obviously need a capture device. Some video cards have one, and if yours don't, then I'm afraid you'll have to go and buy a new one. On the software side, Virtual Dub will take care of everything.
