I just downloaded VirtualDub, and I want to capture video from some VHS tapes, but I don't know how or where to start. Here are the questions I have?
1. First of all, how do I hook up my VCR to my PC? Do I need some special capture hardware to do this?
2. In VirtualDub, how do I actually start the capturing process? What settings should I choose?
3. What resolution and compression method should I choose if I want full-screen video?
FYI, the tapes I want to capture contain basketball games that are about 2 hours in length. Please keep that in mind when you answer my questions. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. |

OK, let's start,
First of all, you obviously need a capture device. Some video cards have one, and if yours don't, then I'm afraid you'll have to go and buy a new one. On the software side, Virtual Dub will take care of everything. |
