does anyone know where i could get a codec that's basically something that saves captured frames as individual .bmp (or other format) files as a sequence. I find sequences easier to work with and their much more reliable. With .avi i just lost 4gigs worth of info because the capture program crashed and it didn't save the .avi file correctly. I didn't find any program to repair it at all.. none of them worked. VDub was the closest.. it recovered 112 frames (not much).
It's probably not worth being called a codec since it doesn't really encode/compress, but it's useful for programs that don't have a 'Save as sequence' option.
I should mention that I only intend to use it for screen activity capturing only.

Ever noticed that Virtualdub can do the capturing for you, at least if you have a VfW driver for your capture card ? Rest assured the AVI it will create for you is fine ...

does this technique apply for screen capturing? I'm not using it for external (camcorder, etc) capturing. |

If you do screen capturing into single BMPs, you can load them into Virtualdub and it will create an ( uncompressed ) AVI from it, but note that colour space and pixel resolution have to be identical for every image ...
VirtualdubMod will accept not only BMPs, but also PNG and JPEGs on its input ....

Yes, but I'm looking for a codec that would capture as a .bmp sequence in the first place. I'm currently using CamStudio from RenderSoftware, but it doesn't have saving to a .bmp sequence built in. I have to rely on a codec to do it.
Or
Maybe someone knows of a program that has it built in and configurable to capture in milliseconds? |
