Hi, I have an avi file and I can play it on Windows Media Player and DivX Player. The Windows Media Player tell me "Morgan Stream Switcher" as audio codec (file properties). When I open this file with VirtualDub and try to extract wav (using Full Processing Mode) I get the message "No audio decompressor could be found to descompress the source audio format". VirtualDub tell me "Unknown (tag 2000)" as audio codec at the File Information. How can I do to solve problem ? |

I think that is AC3 audio, If trying to Extract to wav chooses "Full Processing Mode" then choose "PCM or Wav" from the Compression format list, then save it, But you might be better Off useing The Virtual Dub_Mpeg2/AC3 version as it actually supports AC3 audio.... |

Um, I can guarantee that both of minion's suggestions will fail.
AFAIK there's no ACM codec for AC3, so VirtualDub can't decompress it to PCM. You have to save it using "direct stream copy" then use another program to decode it. And VirtualDub-MPEG2-AC3 only works with AC3 in MPEG files, not AVIs.

Take a look to this thread, there are described steps, how to do it. And use "search" function, search "AC3" and "tag 2000", there are also another threads about. |
