Hi guys
I've had a hard disk crash and lost my VDub install, I'm re-building but can't get Smart Rendering working.
I use another program (MCEBuddy) to process recorded TV and convert it to XVID with FFMPEG, I then use VDub to remove the commercials using Smart Rendering.
I've re-installed everything but I am now getting an error that smart render "cannot match the same compressed format".
I don't remember doing anything in particular to configure XVID when I originally installed it and I'm using the default settings on the new install.
Any ideas?
Thanks |

When you open a video in VirtualDub, you can best verify the "File Information..." via the File-menu. In Video Stream > Decompressor, you can see what decoder is used by VirtualDub to read that video.
If possible, select the corresponding encoder via the Video-menu > Compression...
In your case, this should normally be the Xvid-codec.
Did you download and install it ? https://www.xvid.com/download/ ?

Thanks for your reply.
The info screen is showing xvid and I've selected this as the compression, this has not changed from before I lost the disk.
I downloaded the xvid from xvid.com, I don't know where I downloaded it from before, but it was before 2014 and the current download is for a file dated 07 April 2014. |

Old versions of Xvid are available here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD-Codec/old-versions
On the other hand you could also think of trying to open the recorded TV directly in VirtualDub (by using one of the inputdriver plugins like FFMPeg or DirectShow) and then use "Full processing" to encode to Xvid (or other) without "Smart rendering". http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub...peginputplugin/ http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...=ST&f=7&t=15093 |

I'll try an older version to see if this solves the problem, I know that the version of FFMPEG used by MCEBuddy is not the latest.
I don't do a full process because of the time it takes, I can use H/W encoding in MCEBuddy so I can convert a 1hr MPEG-2 video to XVID in about 10 minutes whereas it would take VDub about 30 mins. |

Thanks for your help, I eventually tracked it down to a version of the K-Lite Codec Pack. |
