hi, i use virtual dub for a long time on my windows 7 32 bit machine. now i switched to windows 8.1 with 64 bit. i installed virtual dub 32 virtual dub 64 virtual dub portable several single codecs (divx, xvid, ....) several codec packs (k-lite, ...)
but i can't see any codecs in virtual dubs video compression menu.
does anybody know that problem. maybe win8 registers the codecs in a new way that virtual dub is not capable of? |

Maybe you can already check the thread via the hyperlink below. ( dloneranger and myself giving advice on codecs not showing up in Windows 8.1 )
http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act...=ST&f=3&t=21741
In Windows 7 32-bit, in Windows Registry, I do find several codec information in the following keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc] "DivX.dll"="DivX 6.8.3 Codec" "xvidvfw.dll"="Xvid MPEG-4 Video Codec"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "vidc.XVID"="xvidvfw.dll" "vidc.DIVX"="DivX.dll" "vidc.yv12"="DivX.dll"
( maybe VirtualDub is looking in these particular places to find codec information... do you find these in Windows 8.1 ? ) ( myself I do not have Win 8.1 so I can not confirm, but you can try to create these keys if they are missing, and verify if it changes something )
Some feedback is always welcome ! |
