Hi guys,
I was using VDub 32bit with fccHandler's Quicktime plugin on WinXP to edit the .MP4 files that come off my camcorder. But since I've upgraded to Win7 I haven't been able to get this to work. I switched to the 64bit version of VDub and Handler's 64bit QT plugin, but still got the error that VDub couldn't recognize the file. I tried running the 32bit version of VDub on Win7, as well, with the 32bit plugin, and every other combination I could think of. Not an ounce of luck.
I've been googling for hours and haven't come up with anything that works. Is there a solution? I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks. |

I don't know if it will help but some things you can verify: 1) Did you put the file "QuickTime.vdplugin" in the subfolder "plugins32" of your VirtualDub installation folder ? 2) When - in VirtualDub v1.9.11 - you click on File > Open video file... and on the bottom of the dialogbox, you open the roll-out-menu at "Files of type", do you see something like "Quick Time files (*.mov, *.mp4, ...)
If you do, than there is a chance that file-extensions are not shown in your Windows 7 environment. So, VirtualDub can not detect if it is an *.MP4 file or another one !!
Two possibilities: 1) in the "Open video file" dialogbox first select an MP4 file ; than select "Quick Time files" in the list of "Files of type" ; finally click "Open" 2) show the file extensions in Windows 7 : go to Windows Explorer ; click Tools > Folder options > View tab > uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" ; click "OK"
Does this help ? Some feedback would be appreciated.
