When I have no video file open in virtualdub 64 (even latest 1.9.10 version) in windows 7 x64 I can see lame mp3 as an option and I can set encoder bitrate. However when I load a video lame mp3 disappears as an option entirely. If I guess a bitrate that the audio can be encoded to and then open the file and save it, then it does convert to the correct bitrate. The problem with this is that if it audio in that file can't be encoded to that bitrate it gives me an error and I can't go into audio compression and change it, because its missing. I have to close the file, select a different bitrate, and try again. Right now was able to install the 32bit codec and I'm using virtualdub 32bit.
To try to fix the 64 bit version I've reinstalled 2 different versions of the lame mp3 encoder (the right-click on an inf file install). I also had an older version of virtualdub x64 that I tried before upgrading to the latest and it has the same issue. And for good measure I rebooted the computer and tried again, same result.
Since the codec does work, i don't think its the codec that's the problem, its just virtualdub's display of it as an option when a video file is open in virtualdub. |

Most likely the sampling rate of the audio in the video isn't supported by LAME, go to Audio -> Conversion and set the sampling rate to 44.1k |
