I have 2 problems with my divx video codec.
1- I can only access the divx setting through virtualdub
becuase when I go into video codecs through Device manager ,I see that all my settings for codecs are grey out . The only thing I could find for my divx codec was the decoder setting ,but NOT the "Encoder" as in my screenshot number 2. How can I change it so that I can access the quality settings through Device manager ?

2- The setting for the divx codec allways goes back to 3 no matter if I change it higher to say 7 or 8. How can I make it so that when I check the quality setting that it remains on 7 ?

I'm not sure you can get to codec settings for a video codec through Device Manager. I've always just gone through an encoding program instead.
As for the decoding quality setting, I'm not sure on that one. Have you tried using unrestricted profile, or a trial version of DivX Pro?
