If what you're looking for a codec comparison take a look at Doom) (direct link to the comparison: http://www.doom9.org/codec3-1.htm).

WMV9 isn't compared there but XviD and DivX are (DivX 3 SBC and RV9, too).

In the forums of Doom9 you can find information on WMV9 (IIRC on the New A/V formats forum).

Just FYI, the purpose of this support board here is to help people with using Virtualdub, and not so much about codec comparisons .... Doom9.org and everwicked.com are the right places to look up such info ...

--------------------
Visit the unofficial Virtualdub support forum on http://forums.virtualdub.org - help to reduce the big number of emails Avery Lee is getting every day !!
Support matroska as container and Gstreamer as the only truely open, x-platform multimedia platform ....

Just an extra bit of info. Doom9 used an unstable dev build of Xvid in the test. So Xvid's bad performance in those tests shouls not be paid attention to. The best way to find out which one is best is to test for yourself. For me Xvid is probably the best with Divx and WM9 close behind. WMV9 has that problem of being format locked though so it will never be that usefull.
