Hello All,

First of all: I am e (very big) newbie wink.gif wink.gif

So i hope anyone can help...

I have a DivX avi file i want to export to a an audio an video file to write a DVD. I want to make this DVD on an Apple computer, so i have to convert the DivX to a format the apple understands rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

So i export with V-Dub to a normal AVI, which is not really a problem, the only thing is that the output file is getting sort of TOO big: 60 gigabyte...

Is there a way i can export from V-DUB to DVD formats? Or is there a way to compress the movie so i get a normal file size??

By the way, the original file size (divX) is 750mb

I really hope someone can help me out here...

1. no, Vdub can not export to MPEG2, as MPEG2 can not be used in AVI
2. why cant you open the DivX AVI in the application on your MAC you are using to create your DVD ?

If this is not possible your best bet would be to export to HuffYuV instead of uncompressed RGB, but it will still be huge ( maybe not 60 GB ) ...

Well i have Cleaner 5.0 and Fincal Cut Pro on the mac, but both cannot handle DivX, i tried to search for some extra codec stuff to open them, but didn't work out...

But the HuffYuV format your talking about, what's that?? (yes still a newbie, and learning smile.gif)

thnx for the quick reply(s)

Hello again,

i am a little further now... when i use MPEG4VIDEO codec V2 compression, the file size will be normal, but the audio and video stream don't match..

When i open the DivX file, V-Dub says that the audio stream is not i an correct format: Improper VBR audio encoding in the source. It may introduce up to 98521ms of skew.

The original audio details are:
- Codec: mpeglayer3 (mp3) (0x0055) ISO/MPEG
- Bitrate: 157 kb/s VBR
- Sample rate: 48000 Hz

If i play the exported video, it looks sort of oke, but sometimes it accelrates for 1 second and then comes back to a normal speed...

Thnx in advance

Matthijs

Do you have access to a Windows box also for MPEG2 encoding ? I recommend to use TMPEGencoder on a windows box to create the MPEG2 stream for the DVD and then to do only the final DVD authoring on the MAC ...

BTW : In most cases a S-VCD will be able to have about the same picture quality as a normal DivX, but on 2 - 3 CDs .. why at all make a DVD from a DivX AVI ?

What's a windows box? Do you mean somethng like Adobe Premiere??

Because there's a special export utilitie there for export to DVD (.MV2 file and a .WAV file) that i can import on the MAC.

The problem in Adobe Premiere is that if i import my file into the BIN, the sounds plays perfectly, but when i put it on the timeline there's no music anymore, the same story when i export it....

Very frustrating....

I want to make a DVD because i want to watch it on a TV screen (bigone) not a monitor....
