I have a lot of cool .swf games. But ever since installing Service Pack 2, when I try to play an .swf file stored on my hard drive, it's always blocked, and a warning is reported in the "Information Bar." I have to click "Allow blocked content," and answer the inevitable "Are you sure?" question, again and again.
Short of disabling the blocker entirely (which I haven't tried), is there something simple I've missed? I tried adding "My Computer" to my Trusted Sites. To my surprise it was accepted, but it hasn't got rid of the annoying block.

I've thought about it, but I'm kind of set in my ways with IE. Right now this is one of only two new SP2 annoyances I haven't been able to solve.
The other is the new "System Volume Information" folder on my D drive, which I can't get rid of. I figured out how to delete it, but it always reappears at next boot-up.

Please let's not turn this into yet another IE vs. Firefox debate, as I'm well familiar with all the pros and cons. Some of my best friends use Firefox, so I hear about it ALL the time. Grrrr...
Surely there's an IE or system setting I've missed? The pre-SP2 IE didn't complain about .swf files played from the hard drive.

Aaargh... I suppose that policy makes sense on a corporate network, but it seems bass-ackwards to me since I'm the sole user of this computer.
Thank you for the link!

In case anyone's interested, today I finally found a fix for this annoyance! The Administrator can override SP2's default policy in gpedit.msc. Here is the relevant setting:
Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Internet Explorer / Internet Control Panel / Security / Locked-Down Local Machine Zone / Run ActiveX controls and plugins = Enabled
Woo-hoo!

[danger...cyberman approaching....] | Sorry, I didn´t see this thread any earlier.
I´ll say just this - IE doesn´t support (web)standards that are over 6 years old(CSS 2). It´s a pain to write a site that can be viewed with IE. Reason enough to hate it, IMO.
