Howdy,

I recently installed Crystal Player to give it a try (mistake)
just to see how it was compared to my usual WMP6.4 and Zoomplayer mainstays.

Anyhow, when I decided it was slow and cumbersome I
uninstalled it (bigger mistake). When it went it took quite
a few file associations with it and totally busted Windows Explorer's ability to do a right-click, Properties, Preview.

There are now no Details or Preview tabs on an .AVI file's properties. Furthermore, the files themselves are no longer described as "Video File" under file type in explorer but simply "AVI File", which I suspect is probably why, thats fine for why, but now I'm wondering how to reset things back the way they were without restoring a 2-3 day old registry (didn't notice it right away)

Any ideas folks? This is under 98SE

im not sure how to restore file associations for Win98. In WinXP there is a "Folder options" which deals with associations, perhaps in Win98 too?

or reinstalling zoomplayer might help as it perhaps tries to associate itself with avi?
