I have a mpeg file that is about 800MB, thus not fitting on a VCD. How do I split it and with what program?

VCDs are typically burnt in mode2 form2 and thus allow 800 MB on a normal 80 mins CD, without overburning. Fire up Nero or WinOnCD, tell them you wnat to create a Video CD and drag and drop the MPEG on them .....

The file is actually 823MB big. Too big for a normal 80 min. CD. What program can I use to either split the file, or convert it an AVI and split it with VirtualDub?

yes you could do it with virtualdub and convert to avi or use TMPGEnc and use the source-range function in the project-wizard
in both cases youd have to re-encode the file which isnt really what you want

there must be a cleaner way to do this...
have you ever tried to look for a mpeg-cutter or splitter on the internet (or on this board)?

No, I haven't found any mpeg-cutters anywhere on the internet or on this board. Does anyone else know of something?
