I haven't found another place to put this, so I set it to the Off-Topic's.
The buttons in the edit dialogs of this site have no effect on my browser (mozilla 1.5, JS enabled). The "Guided Mode" have no effect too. Is this a known issue, so I have to use IE ?
A workaround will be the manual editing of the tags. Especially I miss to place quoting at the place where I want it to be and I can't remember the tag syntax. Is a list of all the tag syntax available anywhere? |

indeed, firebird acts funny here.... there is a good reason to use IE here.... (and on 99% of the web too...hehe)
btw. i have tried most of the browser available:i have used opera(doesn't know how to save web pages),kmeleon,firebird,myie2,avant..i have tried moz.... mozilla is bloated crap;i intended to post a short .avi where it is visible that mozilla based browser(firebird and kmeleon too, although kmeleon is fastest) actually has SLOW GUI(on my machine)! that is unheard-of in PC world!
those guys would profit from a programmer who knows thing or two about the hardware,i guess....
still,i use firebird for some specific tasks that IE can't do....(at that times i don't mind my mouse stopping every second or so..hehe)
anyway, use some other browser to make your life easier...you can install many browsers on one machine, you know....

I prefer using mozilla for many reasons: 1. I feel familiar with it as a traditional netscape user. 2. IE is an endless security hole. Mozilla is open source and therefore there are more eyes to look for. 3. When I think I need an upgrade, I get one and that's all. Not like IE patches of a patch and so on. windowsupdate is a beast. 4. I'm not interested in learning a complete new GUI or testing other browsers when I am satisfied with my actual one. 5. Tabbed browsing (stolen idea from opera I think) is a very geiles* feature!
And for all that wan't to teach me a better: I'll have no interest at this time! So don't try it!
)*geil may be directly translated as horny, but thats not the same thing at all. |

Honestly, the editing tags will often not work in IE either, so don't feel that you are missing out.

well, they worked EVERY TIME for me,that's for sure.... if they didn't i would use another browser....
so that (what you just said) is not true....

myie2 has this too,but i don't like teh way it does favorites....you know,i'm picky about browsing too...

there's a ratio behind that also;would you write a virus for a browser that tnobody uses,or for the one 90% of people use? (i think virus writers are low-life scumbags, but that's how they think...)

browser gui's are always very simillar.... and i mean VERY!

nope,i'm just saying what works FOR ME....you can discard my thoughts completely...i just said i can edit this stuff with ease;i just select the text and tag it with one click...done
just like that....
enjoy your browsing with anything u use...

so that (what you just said) is not true.... | As I write this, the URL, IMG, @, and LIST buttons are not responding in IE. However, I have had them work in the past. I have not noticed any pattern to it so I don't know why it happens.
This is the only forum that I have seen issues with.

This works in mozila too. Maybe someone has changed something with this site. I yust don't know.
The only thing to get the buttons to work is switch the radio button to "Normal Mode". So what the hell is this "Guided Mode"???? Guide to madness?
But some buttons still doesn't work (http,img,@,list). I even tried IE with the same result.
So I answered my own question at last.
Thanks to PAMEL for sympathy. And thanks to i4004 for a great misplaced treatise on browsers. |
