I went today and received some good news.

Before the new year I made a statement about what I was told about going blind in my mid 40's. I was informed today that I will lose slight vision but the neurological condition connected with my eyes will not worsen. The condition had stabilized itself! 11 years ago and even as far back as a teen the news wasn't promising at all.

I can't say how much of a relief this is. I'll be doing video when I'm 80!

Thanks guys.

I kind of feel like I have been reborn.

When I called up on Monday to make an appointment the secretary was going to schedule me in for this July which was a little bit on the late side. When I described who I was and of the few issues I had they made it a 2 day wait instead of 5 months.

For months I have had floaties in the left eye, started as one dot, now three. I was told that stress and age does that. Last Friday I had a flashing disk in the right eye, first time ever having that, an ocular migraine due to stress and such. Those things pushed me more into seeing the doctor and it's a very good thing they did. Being told that the brain part will remain as-is and will not worsen is really good news.

The eye doctor is the best in the state. She does surgeries and that Lasik thing. I was also informed that there is now a surgical procedure for part of my condition but since it isn't bad and will not worsen, and I'm not a gambling man, I'm not taking any chances with complications, they would be kind of on the high end since it involves opening up the head. ph34r.gif

No matter how good a surgeon is, there is always that chance of something going wrong. Plus it would be expensive, never would be able to afford it anyway, lol. My doctor said surgery was an option but not necessary at all.

Interesting. I have several small floaters myself, likely from years of working in front of computers
or something. I've never had any flashing lights or pain though, I remember at one point
I read something on a website about that, and how sometimes floaters can be sign
of a degenerate problem, especially if accompanied by flashes and any sudden
increase in their number, but are sometimes just age or environment related.

Small sections of the fluid on the inside of the eye getting dried out and clumping
together or some such. I mostly don't notice them unless looking at a white background,
or against blue sky. If I ever get pain or flashes in the eyes though I'll likely
do what you did and hit the doctor for some tests.

I don't notice the floaties unless looking at something solid in light color, outside mostly. Doc said if it should ever increase or worsen to let them know.

What you just mentioned about being in front of monitors: I've been looking at them for years too. Could be causing something.

That flashing in the right eye happened only that one time. It was an ocular migraine without a migraine, no pain in my case. Once in a very great while I do get wavy lines and a feeling if oversensitivity which more than likely could be from my anxiety disorder. That stuff can cause a lot of things to happen.
