Uhm I'm a bit lost on a few things here. My Mom and I have Lite-on CD/DVD burners but my upgrade firmware version shows UL19 which is the latest upgrade I put in some time ago while hers show an upgrade for 6L1H, hers is currently 6L1E.

I went to Firmware HQ through ImgBurn on both computers and each shows a different ending number for the DVD drives:
My drive: iHAP322 8
Her drive iHAP322 9

I'm lost since these appear to be identical Lite-on drives yet my last Lite-on drive purchase, in my notes, was on March 15 2010 which had the the model number iHAP322-98, hers was purchased on December 2 2008 which has the model number iHAP322-08. This is different as to what Firmware HQ is showing me?

So this leads me to think: Do "I" actually have the correct firmware version for my DVD drive and if I upgrade hers will she be getting the correct firmware for her drive?

I looked on Newegg to compare the drives features between hers and mine and mine doesn't even list the drive as being able to use dual layer DVDs but yet I have been using those type of disks successfully. The specs for her drive does list it as being able to use dual layer disks. I'm confused about many thing right now actually.

I hope I just didn't confuse anybody else here?

Update: I have my UL19 firmware backed up on one of my disks but I don't know which one, I would have to look. If the UL19 version was an incorrect version would the installer for that firmware not had continued on with the install?

I never upgrade firmware for disk drives. At the cost of 20 dollars for a new one, to me its not worth looking into this.

I learned long time ago that upgrading software or firmware is not always a good thing so now I only upgrade things when I need to.

Just some advise

Sounds good to me. My drive has always worked and I guess hers does too so...

Looks like the old adage applies here: "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
