It has been a little while since I picked up a camcorder. Coming back here has given me some motivation to get back into it. It feels good coming back to places you haven't been in a while.

Maybe in the not too distant future it might be a wise move to back up all of my digital8 tapes since I believe my digital8 will not last forever and the format might be dying off anyway? I don't think there are many digital8's left out there unless you buy used.

I will someday get a new camera. High definition would be nice but not really all that necessary. Decent standard definition would be alright. I would miss nightshot so I would prefer Sony if at all possible. Nothing pro though.

I'm with my Girlfriend at her Mom's place and I can't wait until her Mom gets back so I can get back to my fast computer back home tongue.gif

I have left my computer running for almost 2 months straight without reboot, most it has ever been on at one time. Just was curious to see how effectiveness of the system and programs would be affected. I will need to reboot soon just to refresh things and then start backing up some stuff then I can get back into video processing.

Hi Jam

From reading about them it looks like there are good and bad points. Rolling shutters and that of a still camera being better at stills than video just like the way a camcorder can stink at taking stills but work well for video. I do like the flexibility of having both still and video in one device however.

A DSLR can go for more at cost if you need to buy the lenses and other accessories for it.

I had thought of those hand-held jobs like a flip but in Sony format with nightshot included and maybe in HD
