ok I used to encode alot of stuff... I took a few months off.. reformated my H/D. and now im starting to encode again and I usually use nandub the 2 pass divx encoder But when I encode with it it simply encodes it to a raw avi file... So i tried in in virtual dub and This is the error i get when I try to export it is an avi.

Videa Compression Error: An unknown error occured (may be corrupt data). (error code -100)

I have tried many different files ranging from a ton of bitrates and resolution size. The only thing that the files have in common are they are Mpeg1 and they came from the same video capture card.

So if anyone knows what this is id be grate ful for some help. Thx

if that's the only thing in common, then the capture card (or it's software) may not be making proper mpeg1 files

That error isn't from the MPEG-1 decoder -- it's from the video codec being used for compression. Are you sure you're not using the locked Microsoft MPEG-4 codec?

QUOTE
nandub the 2 pass divx encoder

It seems that at least he was. But I assume if he used to use that and is now using Virtualdub that he is encoding with the better up to date Divx codecs as you can't do 2-pass with MSMPEG4 in Virtualdub.
