I'm trying to enable opening of .mov files in VirtualDub. I have tried both the "Quictime Plugin" and the "FFMpeg Input Plugin". The first one of these has a readme file that specifies the unzipped plugin files to be placed in a plugin folder (for 32 bit or 64 bit version) in VirtualDub's program folder. I have done this, but when I try to open a .mov file I get a message in the middle of the of each VirtualDub window (small font) that says "Missing Codec" and another word I cannot read. This happens for both the Quicktime and FFMpeg plugins.

Any suggestions for what the missing codec is or what else might be wrong would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Gisnar

FFMPeg plugin doesn't give that message so I suspect you aren't actually using the plugins

To use the plugins
On the file menu, select open video file
Click on the video file you want to load so it is selected
Change the 'files of type' to the plugin you want to use
Now click OK

FFMpeg should load it ok as it doesn't require codecs
Quicktime plugin requires the correct codecs on your pc - the file information dialog shows what codecs it uses
