Hi Everyone!

I appended a few videos, compressed them in H264. When i playbacked the result, the audio starts sooner, than the video. Much sooner. Therefor video can't keep up with audio, no synchronization. Itried to use the recommended settings from x264vfw tips, but neither helped. Please tell me how to solve this anoying problem! sad.gif

When appending several video's (*.AVI) one to another via VirtualDub, you have to take care that - in each of them - the video and the audio is equal in length, before joining.

You can verify this when a video is open/loaded in VirtualDub, and you look in File > File information...
When audio is too short or too long, you can export it via File > Save Wav... to an external WAV-file that you can rework with for exemple a program like Audacity.
Once you did adapt the audiotrack to make as long as the video you can mix it back into the video via Audio > Audio from other file...
Set the Video-menu to Direct Stream Copy and set Audio > Compression to "No compression (PCM)"
Finally do a File > Save as AVI...
Repeat these actions for the different AVI's that you like to join.

If audio starts too soon or too late you can correct this in VirtualDub via Audio > Interleaving... > Audio skew correction.
In "Delay audio track by :" you can set positive or negative values (at 25 frames per second, 40 milliseconds makes a difference of 1 frame).

Hi Abrazo!

Thank You for the answer! I will try your tips. I used to use VD under Windows XP, using the same camera's videos, without problems. Now i have Windows 8, and use the same type of video files to append. (made with the same camera) This problem occurs. (audio starts earlier than video)

I hope i will found a "one step solution" so i can join my videos without reediting the audio track. This is the first time i use h264vfw codec - can the problem be around codecs, or codec settings?
