creating an avi from a single jpg image , how ?

Ok , I have my jpg loaded in VD, and set the compression to Xvid, and the video frame rate to 30.

And to select the range for the say 30 seconds Im not sure how to do, can someone show me or explain ?
is there a sample on youtube how to do this ?

Ok, the video worked ,but when I try to view in explorer how many seconds this avi goes for, it says 00:00:00 , which is strange because I set up windows media player to play video in loop mode so the video is visible until you close media player.

But how do I set - here is the screen shot-

Load the image in VirtualDub.
Press Ctrl+c to copy then Ctrl+v to paste as many frames as you want.

In addition to what malky proposes, there is a second possibility to achieve your goal:

You can use the Video > Frame rate... option.

At the "Source rate adjustment", do select "Change frame rate to (fps):",
if you set this to "1", you will get 1 image that will last for 1 second,
if you set this to 0,1, you will get 1 image that will last for 10 seconds.

At the "Frame rate conversion", you can select "Convert to fps:" and set this to "30".

So, you will get a video for 1 second (or 10, or more seconds, depending on what you have set) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
