I have a video coded with cinepak. Resolution is 720 x 576 (i.e. same as DV but with 4:3 aspect ratio). This is shown correctly when I play it directly with VirtualDub, MediaPlayer, Fairplay Lite or whatsoever.

If I open it in VirtualDub via AviSynth by AviSource("filename.avi"), the video plays vertically flipped (upside down) and shows large of uniformly green regions. I would like to treat it via AviSynth because I want to de-interlace it to get a 50 fps video. (The video shows a crash test filmed with the high-speed shutter switched on.)

Is there a general problem with AviSynth (2.54) and Cinepak?
