Hey guys.
I'm finally trying to get a working IVTC Script so I can get back the original 24fps material. But my captures have some very odd ways of showing the frames so let me show you.
I ran a sample through VirtualDub (frame by frame) and this is what I came up with for roughly 2 seconds of material taken from a prime-time show on tv.

3 Progressive
2 Interlaced
3 Progressive
2 Interlaced
3 Progressive
2 Interlaced
3 Progressive
2 Interlaced
2 Progressive
1 Duplicated

3 Progressive
2 Interlaced
2 Progressive

2 Interlaced

The progressive/duplicated/interlaced frames aren't exactly in a certain order. It appears that they go quite randomly.
Is there any kind of AVISynth Script that I can use to handle the IVTC for this?
I can even send the sample AVI somewhere if needed.
It's a 640x480 NTSC AVI file that was captured using the Huffyuv Codec.
I'm really baffled so ANY help is soooooo appreciated.
Thanks

Are you sure the source is film? You mentioned that it's a primetime TV show. Sounds like it may be video, if so de-interlace it. If you are sure it is film then you might want to try the telecide and decimate functions in AVI-Synth.

Telecide should handle it nicely with:

CODE
telecide(guide=1)
decimate(cycle=5)

Ignoring the duplicates, your 2 interlaced frames are 5 frames apart throughout the sequence you posted, which is certainly indicative of a film to NTSC transfer. The duplicates could be part of the program material (that's normal), or they could be dropped frames (that's bad).

May the FOURCC be with you...
