VirtualDub version 1.9.11 (32 bit) keeps crashing before I can even start recording. I am using a Gigaware VHS to DVD capture device on Windows 8 64 bit.
I start up VirtualDub, select File>Capture AVI, I can mess with settings just fine, for now I'm using defaults. As soon as I turn on the console that is hooked up to my capture device VirtualDub will crash if I try messing with inputs or start recording. I get no video preview even if I enabled it before turning on the console.

I don't know if it can help, but does it make a difference when you first connect and start your capturing device before activating VirtualDub and its "capture mode" ?
Also do verify if you installed a 32-bit driver for your capturing device. Normally 32-bit VirtualDub should work with 32-bit drivers, codecs and filters.
To verify if it has something to do with the audio- and/or video-codecs that you are using, you could try to open a random file in VirtualDub and recompress it. If the codecs do not give a problem in editing mode, they should evenso give no problem when used in capture mode.
For what concerns your crash report, sorry myself I have no experience with that. |
