32bit version can't allocate more than 2GB of memory (on x64 system)
and process hangs...
I manually added this option by using the CFF Explorer
File Header -> Characteristics -> App can handle 2gb address space
and it seems work fine (allocated 3.3 GB of memory for a process)
so, my question is: it's bug, or the concept?

It's probably not recommended

There's not just the virtualdub exe to consider, but all the filters, codecs etc loaded by virtualdub as well
If one of them isn't compatible then you could get crashing or random errors

Windows7/8 Codec Chooser
All FccHandlers Stuff inc. Installers for acm codecs AAC, AC3, LameMp3
