Using the latest VirtualDub version (1.9.11-32bit). Any supported file type that I try to load into VD plays and converts, where every other frame is normal and every other frame is distorted much like a greyed-out embossed look? I've also tried VD version 1.10.0-32bit with the same result. I'm running Win7 64bit with an i7 & Nvidia GTX 460SE and recent Nvidia drivers. Nothing strange affecting video loading with Windows. Just a standard boot to the desktop. Movies played in VLC media player, Win Media player, Quicktime, etc do not exhibit this effect. Any ideas would be appreciated as VD is useless with this issue. Attached are a couple of screenshots. This is the distorted frames. Every other frame looks normal..............

Thanks!

What kind of compression are you using? What is the source video file? Can you post both versions of the video files?

When you say which compression, do I need to make a setting in VD or download codecs just to play the video in VD? Sorry I'm somewhat new to VirD. I've been going through a whole collection of .avi's that I have and most create this distortion. Only one or two do not show any distortion.

The main thing I want to do with VirD is convert/rotate my Canon 7D HD .mov movies. So I installed the Quicktime (.mov/.mp4) plug in from here: http://www.tateu.net/software/. But when I open the 7D's .mov file in VirD it is distored and if I "save as AVI" in VirD then the exported .avi is distorted also. I'm just not sure what could be causing this?

It's interesting that when I try and open some .avi files in VirD I get the following error....see below....

When you save an avi file from vdub, you need to specify a compression codec. Here is a video to show you how.

http://evropej.com/compression/compression.html

It will help if you download xvid and x264vfw as well.

H264 video code
http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/
xvid/divx codec
http://www.xvid.org/

Try this and see what happens

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The video that you posted just by chance showed the guy opening a .mov file and when he did he opened with "ask for extended options" checkbox and choose under Video Decoder Mode "ICM Decomp" and that got rid of the distortion.

Again..............Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! biggrin.gif
