Greetings.
I have noticed the VirtualDub
File/AVI Info Popup sometimes gives
an incorrect measure of the Audio Length -
seemingly when the audio is vbr audio ...
in case that is of interest to anyone ...
VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2.2542 does not
have this problem ...
in case that is of interest to anyone ...

You can disable this message.
Options > Preferences... > AVI > Warn when VBR audio is detected
Don't worry - current version of VirtualDub support VBR audio.

Dirk Paehl has a freeware collection of portable utilities -
including an MediaInfo alternative, which I have found gives some spec info the MI normally does give but does not always seem to give on YT flv downloads (e.g., video bitrate) |
I have flv YT download and am not sure what the dimensions are.
MI & DPMI say 480x360.
The ViDub File Info popup says 480x368.
I have JetAudio set to give file explorer info tip popups for some MM files.
JA says 480x368.
When I play the flv in SMPlayer, the SMP File properties popup says 480x360.
When I play the flv in VLC, the VLC Media Info popup says 480x360.
I am wondering what is going on ... |

This link has a chart of flv/avc codec IDs.
The chart lists codec IDs 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.
MI & DPMI say the YT flv file(s) in question have codec ID: 7
Anyone know some/any/thing about codec ID: 7? |

This should be 480x360.
However, info from file information window is technically correct - in sense that opened video has a 480x368 (is a bit stretched?).
After changing container (to Matroska or MP4) issue does not occur.
Issue occurs only if video is in FLV container and has a certain resolution.
I'm not sure where to look for source of problem - plugin or decoder...
Similar issue occurs with VP6 in FLV in a specific resolution (increased by a few pixels to multiple of 16?).

What would I need to do to DSC these flv files with 480x360/4:3 dimensions?
aviDemux does not stretch the dimensions of these flv files;
but when I copy the file to avi (with no audio) in aviDemux,
the output file video is all black.
MI says the audio of these files is 129 @ 44.1kHz.
DPMI specifies no bitrate @ 44.1kHz.
ViDub says the audio of these files is 128 @ 44.1kHz.
SMPlayer says the audio of these files is 131 @ 44.1kHz. |

Because it is not designed for this (not adequately prepared AVC video to write in AVI).
Just save to proper container (MP4 or MKV).
Of course to change container You can use FLV Extract and MKVtoolnix (or My MP4Box GUI).

MI usually specifies if the audio is VBR but does not with these files.
ViDub gives no "VBR detected" notification ...
I opened one of these files into aviDemux and copied to mp4 (with no audio);
then opened into ViDub (without using the DSI driver); and then did DSC to avi ...
I hope this ViDub dimension stretch problem will "go away" one day ... |

If this audio is not VBR, then it may be result of a bit inaccurate reading of related to bitrate properties (file size, duration, ...)...
