I downloaded the latest version of VirtualDubMod 1.4.13.1 I think it is. Well when I try to convert from any mpeg2 source svcd or dvd my computer's memory used goes from 128mb (I have 512 mb ram and 507mb swap) to 1.09GB. Yet the task manager only shows VirtualDubMod using 17mb. But when I close the file it's fine. It's a problem because I have to close all of my programs that are open or on the taskbar just so that it *might* not crash. But lately that has seemed like it's more and more frequent. I'm encoding to Divx 5.03 Pro. This happens whether or not I use any plugins. I also am not using VirtualDubMod to do the sound at all.
Here's my specs
2600+ XP ASUS A7N8x Deluxe (nForce2 w/ latest drivers) GF4 Ti4200 (latests drivers) 512 DDR (DualDDR configuration) Win2k SP3 (w/ IE5 only, but all updates) 80GB Maxtor 7200rpm LG 16xDVD 32x10x40xCDRW combo drive
Can anyone help me?

(topic moved to VirtualDubMod forum)
For converting MPEG-2, you could also try my mod.

There have been reports in the DivX forums of memory leaks with DivX 5.0.3, although I have not seen it myself:
http://forums.divx.com/viewtopic.php?topic...=46877&forum=13
You could try downgrading to 5.0.2 if you think that may be the cause. The DivX forum moderators have reposted the old download links in the DXN Feedback forum due to the recurrence of the K6 bug in 5.0.3.
Also, there was a VirtualDub filter a long time ago that leaked memory... I think it was fxVHS, but that was... gee, probably a year ago. |
