More than two years ago, I created a replacement main application icon for VirtualDub. Nothing against Avery's icon, but I wanted to have an icon that was a little less abstract and more representative of what VirtualDub does, while still remaining true to the spirit of Avery's original icon.
I sent my icon to Avery when I first created it, but since I never heard back from him about it, I guess he doesn't like it. Nevertheless, that has not prevented me from using it for my own personal VirtualDub build, and it occurred to me that others might like it as well. So without further ado, I humbly present:
Spire's replacement VirtualDub icon
Here is a preview for those who would like to have a look before downloading:

The icon contains both 8-bit (16-color) and 16-bit (256-color) versions for each of the three standard Windows icon sizes (16x16, 32x32, 48x48). Enjoy, and please let me know what you think! |

I doubt he had anything against it. He probably has a ton of mail to go through. Christian was counting his lucky stars he got a response and so quickly from him. But I suppose we should wait for phaeron himself to comment on this. |

Could be. We had been e-mailing back and forth on a few other things, though. When I sent him the icon, I never heard back again. |

I'd sent Avery an icon sometime ago also. Guess he didn't like mine either. Below is a pic of it 32*32 16 colours.

Very nice, IceCork!
I'd like to have a copy of your icon. How about zipping up the full .ICO file and posting a link to it here, as I did with mine? |

Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to upload the icon. I'll mail it to you if you'd like though. |

OK, I'm, with my non-programming abilities, am going to "attempt" to create a less menu-centric interface for VD 1.4.10, and possibly add more context menus where they'd be useful (track bar/other places, I just discovered the ones on the video panes). I've put together GUIs together before, using visual basic and VC++, but not functional ones, since as I've said, I'm no programmer. any tips on how to replicate the menu functions into buttons (probably easier than I think)? and art help might be nice, I suck royally at drawing. I like those icons too.

IceCork,
I get a 403 Forbidden error on the latest file.
BTW, I think Avery is going to release VirtualDub 1.4.11 very soon. Maybe you'd like to drop him a line and see if he's willing to use your icon for the new release. |

The free server I'm using is sometimes\often down. Just keep trying if you want the file. As far as asking Avery if he'd like to use the icon he's welcome to but as I've said previously he is either not interested or receives so much email he didn't get to see it. |

Erk... guys, calm down. I've seen the emails and I've seen all the posts. I just haven't picked one yet!
